The Ab Intus Campaign

We have launched an important venture offering you the chance to become part of an exclusive group of Malachians that will leave a substantial £250,000 fundraising legacy to the College.

The great news is that we have already secured £48,000 in donations to a fund that will be used to enhance the education and educational spaces we offer our pupils, including providing bursaries and removing financial barriers for students from less advantaged backgrounds.

Ab Intus Roll of Honour

Donors will be recognised on the Ab Intus Roll of Honour, which offers the perfect opportunity for Malachians to leave a lasting record of goodwill towards their alma mater.

In recognition of a donation of £800 (which, with Gift Aid, will become £1,000), your name can be tastefully etched onto a visually striking display in the College foyer (see artist’s impression).

The Digital Hub Campaign

For donations over £1,000 why not lend your financial support to Nth\Works, a project developing a cutting-edge, shared digital innovation centre on the site of the old Diosesan seminary building (‘The Wing’).

For donations over £1,000 why not lend your financial support to Nth\Works, a project developing a cutting-edge, shared digital innovation centre on the site of the old Diosesan seminary building (‘The Wing’).

The Nth\Works project is being driven by the North Belfast Digital Hub Foundation, a charitable organisation whose CEO is former pupil and recently retired College Principal, Mr Paul McBride.

The project is working to scale up the success of the award-winning Creative Digital Hub at St Malachy’s College and transition its original concept of cross-sector industry, education and charitable partner collaboration into a new building.

This pioneering new facility will prepare young learners from all post-primary schools within the North Belfast Area Learning Community (NBALC) to get ahead in a world shaped by AI, creativity and human skill.

The Digital Hub initiative has already been backed financially by the Belfast Charitable Society, the James Kane Foundation and the Mary Ann McCracken Foundation.

Several St Malachy’s alumni have also donated, but much more is needed.

What would I be supporting?

The re-imagining of The Wing into a new purpose-built centre designed to equip students with the skills needed for high-growth sectors such as technology, AI, and digital business.

Innovative AI-enabled teaching and learning using VR and robotics labs, as well as music, podcasting and film studios.

The concept of creating a bigger, faster pipeline of digital skills in Northern Ireland’s education sector.

Visit the Nth\Works website and join its database of supporters.

The St Malachy’s Activities Fund

The St Malachy’s Activities Fund is designed to give parents, friends, supporters and alumni the chance to help advance and enhance all aspects of the education on offer at St Malachy’s. This is a general fund for educational materials and equipment, extra-curricular activities and resources.

One-off donations One-off donations of £10–£20, for instance, would help us run a breakfast club or cover our students’ field trip costs. Other examples include:

£25–£50 could go towards subsidising the cost of our boys taking a first aid course, learning BSL sign language or studying Mandarin as part of their enrichment activities.

£100–£250 would help with higher-value items like Chromebooks, 3D printers, sports kits or professional-grade musical instruments.

£500+ supports large-scale projects and capital works.

Monthly donations Monthly donations of £10–£20 can go towards art supplies, stocking the library with new books, or providing prizes for student competitions. Other examples include:

£25–£50 a month can buy items like high-grade lab glassware or ‘quiet time’ equipment.

£50–£100 would help us to pay for our pastoral programmes such as the recent and highly successful Progressive Masculinity initiative.

Donations of any amount are most welcome. Your generosity will help to fuel the advanced learning environment that all Malachians deserve.

Donating FAQs

  • Absolutely! The College utilises Stripe, one of the world’s most secure off-site payment gateways, to process debit and credit card and donations. For bank-to-bank standing order donations please contact Adrian Fulton or Paula O’Hare.

  • Support from right across the College community is vital for us to fulfil our fundraising goals.

Making a modest regular gift such as £10 per month, is worth £450 to the school after three years if the donor is a UK taxpayer (£10 x 36months + 25% gift aid).

A regular gift of £40 per month over five years will be worth £3,000 to the school and have a remarkable impact for our pupils.

Click hereto sign up a direct debit donation and start your support now.

  • Yes! Our HMRC Gift Aid reference number is XN61060. As long as you have paid as much income tax and/or capital gains tax as the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all of your donations in that tax year, the College can reclaim the basic tax rate (25%) on your gift, with no extra cost to you. So, your donation of £100 will actually be worth £125.

  • UK: If you're in the UK and eligible for Gift Aid, St Malachy’s College can claim 25% back in tax from your donation. If you're a Higher Rate Taxpayer (40% and above), you can claim tax back on your charitable donations at the end of the tax year.

US & Canada: Donors in the US can give to the College via the British Schools & Universities Foundation, ensuring they receive a 501c gift receipt: click here. Canadian alumni can benefit from a similar arrangement with CAF Canada: click here.

  • The minimum online gift amount is £1. There's no maximum donation, and no limit on the impact you can make.

  • Yes, or course! In the first instance please contact Adrian Fulton, St Malachy’s College Foundation Director to discuss the appropriate paperwork and ensure you are able to give in the most tax efficient manner.

  • Absolutely, and this is the way for donors to gain the most generous tax relief, combining relief on income and capital gains tax. Share gifts qualify for tax relief equal to the market value of the shares on the day the gift is made, including associated costs such as broker fees. If you wish to donate this way, please contact Adrian Fulton, St Malachy’s College Alumni Foundation Director for more information.

  • You can contribute an existing life insurance policy or designate the College as the owner and beneficiary of a new policy. In either case, the value of the existing policy (or the amount of the investment, if less) or the donated annual premium payments are deductible from your tax liabilities as charitable contributions. If you wish to donate this way, please contact Adrian Fulton, St Malachy’s College Alumni Foundation Director for more information.
